The first coastal cold water bath houses were built in Sweden during the 1820’s, and they saw another burst of interest in the late 19th century after the Swedish industrial revolution and the completion of the national railways. Many of these were situated in the southern and western parts of the country, were quite a of the old constructions still standing [like Varberg kallbadhus], while the ones built in and around Stockholm with few exceptions have been lost to time [like Strömbadet in Stockholm]. The little coastal town of Landskrona where I just moved have had two previous cold bath houses both lost to severe storms, the first in 1941 and then again in 2013. The construction is now on for the new bath house [click the link to see a very disturbing rendering] which is set to be opened fall 2024.
I will have to try it at least once when it is opened, until then I’ll just have to use it as a scene.
With a bit of imagination: boobs.
